Its flowers are yellow in color, fragrant and form bodria. It blooms from mid-April until June, although sometimes the flowering can be extended until August. The Sparto during its flowering period paints the semi-mountainous areas bright yellow, giving the impression of a painted landscape. Its fruit is hedropa, when it ripens, it scatters the seeds.
Their stems are used in making baskets and straw hats. In the past it was used for the production of silk, which had the property of not being attacked by any insect, and textiles of exceptional strength.
